There is no reason to slow down because of rain or cold weather. Keep moving well through May so you can welcome the winter! Imagine how it would feel to have the Power to thrive in all areas of your life and not be slowed down by the change in season. What if you could train your body to feel powerful and in the process develop a thriving mindset? This is exactly the focus for May. As we improved strength and balance in the first months of the year, we can look this month at developing your Power.
Power training is essentially training your mind and body for maximal human potential. As the name suggests, power training is aimed at increasing power, which is the product of both strength and speed. Optimal power reflects how quickly you can exert force to produce the desired movement.
Here’s an example: you may have enough strength to walk across the street. But it’s power, not just strength, that can get you accross before the light changes. Likewise, power can prevent falls by helping you react swiftly if you start to trip or lose your balance.
As we age, we tend to lose power at a much greater rate than we lose strength. Around 28 to 30 years old, we hit our physical peak in terms of development. Every decade after that, studies have shown that we lose around 4.7 percent of the muscle mass due to a number of different factors including hormones and water content in the body. This is the bad news, but the good news is that you can do something about it.
We look forward to seeing your for Power Pilates training in the club! – Club Rhythm Team
